Coventry University International Scholarship Programme


The International Office is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for international students applying to Coventry University for the year 2007/08. The Vice Chancellor has recently announced scholarship awards totalling £500,000 which will be offered to international students coming to study undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes.
There is no separate scholarship application process: all applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country will automatically be considered for a merit scholarship. There are no deadlines for application, and students are considered at the point of application.
The money will be allocated to the following schemes:
Merit Scholarship scheme: Worth £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.
Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University in 2007/08.
Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, Undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels equivalent at grades BBC). An illustrative list of examples from a selection of countries can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

You will not have to do anything. If you are successful, you will be notified in due course by the International Office.
Early Payment Discount: Worth £500. This discount is available for all years of study.
Available to all full-time international students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University in 2007/08.
Students must pay full fees in advance of enrolment to qualify for this discount.
Alumni Discount: Worth £500.
Available to all existing Coventry University international, EU and UK students progressing to full-time postgraduate programmes 2007/08.
This award is available automatically to all existing Coventry University students progressing to full-time postgraduate programmes, upon accepting an offer from the University
Research Scholarship scheme: Worth £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.
Available to all international students applying for postgraduate research programmes at Coventry University in 2007/2008. These awards are aligned to our Applied Research Centres and Applied Research Groups. More information can be found at http://www.coventry.ac.uk/researchnet
Please note:
Scholarships are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The number of scholarships available on each scheme is limited so students are encouraged to apply for their course early.
The maximum amount any international student can claim is £1,500:
An international student can combine a merit award (£1,000) with either an ‘Early Payment’ or ‘Alumni’ discount (£500) but not both.
An international student can combine an ‘Early Payment’ and ‘Alumni’ discount to a maximum of £1,000, but not in conjunction with a merit award.
Successful applicants will be notified in due course by the International Office. The University will not contact unsuccessful candidates.
Terms and conditions
We may make you an offer of a scholarship conditional, on your outstanding academic results. Should you fail to meet this specified criteria, we may still make you the offer of a place but not a scholarship.

If you are offered a merit scholarship then you must confirm your acceptance by way of paying a commitment fee of £500 and do so within six weeks from the date issued on the scholarship offer letter. The commitment fee of £500 we will deduct from your tuition fees. This fee is only refundable in the limited cases listed below:
You fail to meet the academic conditions stipulated in your conditional offer.
You fail to obtain a visa (we will refund on receiving a copy of the visa refusal notice).
Your chosen programme of study is withdrawn and the University is unable to provide a replacement programme of study.
